Hearts & Hands
Hearts and Hands
The Hearts & Hands ministry seeks to care for and provide support for widows, as we live out our Gospel call and apply James 1:27 which says:
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction…”.
The Hearts and Hand ministry helps widows with physical needs such as yard work, home repairs, and general assistance and help. Hearts & Hands primary goal is to build relationships alongside these acts of help and support, and this is done through times of prayer and fellowship. Sometimes these moments are full of laughter and rejoicing, and other times we simply grieve together.
Building relationships and just listening- instead of trying to always solve a problem or fix something- is not necessarily natural for men. By default, we might be more comfortable fixing something broken for a widow and then give out hugs and be on our way. However, this ministry is deeply rewarding as we are blessed by the godliness, counsel, and memories that the widows in our church body share with us in our time together. In caring for our widows and building deeper relationships with them, we are ministered to as well and are tremendously blessed.
The Hearts and Hands ministry is not meeting at this time due to Covid-19 related factors and precautions. We look forward to starting again soon as we fellowship together, serve together, and care for one another. In the past, the Hearts and Hands ministry occurred on either the first or second Saturday of the month (may vary between summer and winter) from 7 am to 10 am. The ministry is open for the men and young men of the church. No skills are required, just a big heart and a desire to serve and care for others. If you have any questions, please contact Matt Walker.
